Have you heard the news? The Chilmark Free Public Library is now part of the CLAMS network, a consortium of all of the public libraries on the Cape and Islands as well as Cape Cod Community College.

Since its founding in 2007, Mango Languages has grown to become one of the world's leading providers of online language learning products. Mango is free for all Chilmark Library patrons, accessible through the library’s website with a Chilmark library card number. We now offer 77 languages! Mango also has a mobile app so you can learn on the go.

Each lesson combines real life situations and audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions. The courses are presented with an appreciation for cultural nuance and real-world application that integrates components of vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and culture.



November Programs

Wednesday, Nov. 12, 5 p.m. The Chilmark Public Library is reaching back into island history with the showing of a recently discovered silent film from 1921 that was filmed in Menemsha. Annabell Lee, based loosely on the poem by Edgar Allen Poe, features seldom seen film footage of Menemsha before the village was destroyed by a hurricane in 1938 and the Gay Head lighthouse before erosion threatened to sweep it out to sea.

Wednesday, Nov. 19, 5 p.m. Join Chef Robert Lionette as he talks about the new book: Morning Glory’s Farm Food:  Stories from the Fields, Recipes from the Kitchen and try some tasty samples of his farm fresh food.This newest book from the Morning Glory Farm team is written by Gabrielle Redner with photography by Alison Shaw.
